Unhappy Megane Boot Jammed

Moment of madness, pressed key plip when I had the boot catch pressed in - result button jammed in, boot locked, won't open.

I guess, the rubber O-ring may have come off and jammed something?

Anyway, what's the best way to get the boot open again?

This happened to me once, and a friend did it by climbing into the boot through the back seats and somehow managed to unhook it.

I also find that locking and unlocking it generally releases it after a while

Good luck.

I did this once....

What you need to do, Is climb into the boot, armed with a star bit driver, Undo the 2 screws which hold the boot catch to the base of the boot, and voila!

Then you need to fix the locking device.

Take that black plastic cover off the inside of the boot door. You should find that there is a solenoid in there with an arm that enables the boot to open or not open, Its likely, the arm has fallen from its position. Flick this back to where it should be and the jobs a goodun.

Sorry if my descriptikons are a bit crappy! you'll see what I mean once your in there!

Re: Megane Boot Jammed

My apologies to all for giving this thread the Frankenstein treatment, however a Google search brought it up and I thought I'd register, say hi and beg for help.

My problem is pretty much what Viffer said - there's a little metal arm in the mechanism on my Megane that seems to have come away from what it's supposed to do. Result - permanently locked boot, button to it pushed out in the normal position. The central locking wont open it, neither will inserting the key and turning it.

My second problem? I can't climb into the boot as it's a convertible.
My major problem? I'm getting engaged in four days and all the plates/decorations/assorted crap for the do is in there.

I'm a bit desperate, guys; any help would be appreciated.
