Thumbs up Re: 1998 Megane, what type of paint to buy

Hi Paul , the best thing to do is give your local Renault dealer a ring and ask them but you will need the number which is on a lable at the base of your drivers door pillar facing outwards with an oval black line round it and will start with 2 letters and then 3 or 4 numbers a bit like this MV290 , i hope that helps ,Ian

Re: 1998 Megane, what type of paint to buy

I have been sorting out some rusty rear wheel arches on a Scenic. It cost me £10 for 1/4 litre of white 2K from my local motor factors who have a refinishing department. The colour code from the car was 369 but there are 7 different shades for that colour so I took the fuel filler flap so I could match it with the colour chits.

I had the same with a non metallic blue Scenic colour code 460 though there where only 2 variants for that code. I also took the filler flap in and the paint is a great match. I painted the bottom half of one of the front wings the top of the passenger door and both rear wheel arches and part of one sill and didnít use half of the 1/4 litre.

I find 2K is far superior to cellulose paint and you can work it when itís dry and flat out any imperfections. I have been working outside in well ventilated conditions as it not nice stuff to be breathing in
