Exclamation Renault Wind window seal problem

I am hoping someone could help with a problem a friend is having with a renault wind.

When they close the drivers side door and lock the car, as the window slides up the rubber seal above the door comes away on the top left hand side near to the boot. When the car door is shut but not locked or open the rubber seal returns to its normal place.

This is causing some trouble as when it rains it appears that water may be seeping into the boot. Any ideas whats happening or how to fix it?

Re: Renault Wind window seal problem

Hi there and welcome.

It could be a loose rubber, or the strip is dry, and pinching with the glasses' movement.

Either way, it isn't for meddling with, as the car is still under warranty, so get the dealer involved, for a free fix.

If you (or your friend)attempt anything, chances are, it won't work or make the situation worse, plus your actions will invalidate that part of the warranty.

As Paul says, get it back to the dealer, its a brand new car under warranty.

Re: Renault Wind window seal problem

Yeh, it will be the rubbers too dry, best take it back to the dealer while under warrenty.

The motor trade usually put Dupont Krytox rubbed on it, its expensive at 45 at 30ml plastic bottle, but a small amount on the seals works wonders on dry seals. it makes them slippier and prevents creaking noises and prevents seal rot.

I have owned convertables for years, and as they get older they tend to leak from the seals and I use this stuff, as well as silicon grease (5 a tube) to keep rain water at bay.
