petrol flap lock

Hello, the petrol flap electric lock has broken on the plastic screw thread that comes through the bodywork to the nut and fell inside body work. I have managed to remove it after a struggle and the plastic bolt inside unit is also broken. I am wondering if you need to buy complete unit or can you buy the bits? also where to buy and how much it will cost . The car is a renault scenic rxe year 2000. Thanks

I suspect you'll only be able to buy the complete unit...

You might be lucky and find a second hand one at a breakers(see the Renault breakers thread),otherwise it's a genuine Renault part only.I'd phone Renault and see how much a new one is and go from there.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

I know how you feel

My petrol flap lock had seized and when I was able to fix the problem and then putting the lock back in I managed to break the screw thread off when tightening the screw back on... With the help of some instant superglue and careful screwing in I was able to fix it again, but I'll be checking ebay for a spare unit just in case
