A good quality polish on the bonnet may help, ?
I too tend to use a spray paint as per Phil C for a better finish.
Regarding the brush marks you may have to rub down the wing mirror with fine wet & dry paper, used wet, then re-paint with a good quality brush but do not over paint as this will leave marks.
