Lag III paint issues

About 4 weeks ago someone clipped my front wing and bumper, so through the insurers to get it sorted, which they did very quickly

However the day after I picked it up I noticed in the sun that the colour match was out, its Oyster Grey, so back to the body shop, another 4 days without my car and its returned, but again its out. First time it was too brown, this time too blue.

Back to the bodyshop, not Renault by the way, they said they had the paint camera on it, the paint rep round and thats the best they could do. Now they are saying they are going to ask insures to approve respraying the full front end plus both sides to the tailgate/bumper

I'm going to call my insurers as I'm far from happy with this, the car is 9 months old, the paint code has been in use since 07/08 and I can't for the life of me see why damage that was about the size of an A4 page will need a car respray and also if they are planning on doing as suggested I'll still have a car with non matching paintwork. Ideally if they can't match it I want the whole car doing so its a perfect match.

So does anyone know of any issues with matching this paint, or what my rights are regarding this. I know I could live with the slight difference but I'm **** and I paid good money for the car so I want it as good as it was when I got it, is that wrong?

Re: Lag III paint issues

Hi there.

I've checked on the DuPont website, and the colour (called Oyster Grey in the UK, is also known as GRIS CASSIOPEE), doesn't seem to have any 'special requirements', as such.

There are 2 variants both helpfully called GRIS CASSIOPEE, one with the code 205325 (with only 1 variation), the other KNG (with 3 variations)

Here is what I'm referring to;
  • X5220
  • KNG
  • 2007 - 2011

  • X5469
  • 205325
  • 2008 - 2011
I would doubt if a full respray is needed, but you have every right to expect a good match when the car itself is fairly new.

Definitely keep the pressure on the insurers.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
