Ah, fair enough then

I would have thought so TBH. Depending on the level of damage I would think that you will want to give it some sort of slow heat treat if you have the capability....At the very least I would leave the repair to age before I used the wheel.

How do you know what grade of filler rod to use

nope, no qualifications, just lots of practice.
Currently in qwakers's garage:
Lag II sold ;-( Yamaha R6 04 black/Grey RangeRover 4.0v8 towcar and bobtailed discovery for offroading.

what alloys have you got?

secondhand renault ones are pretty well available throughout the country, unless they are non standard specials.
Currently in mord's garage:
