Unhappy Laguna II spoiler ripped off while driving

Hi all,

(Laguna II sports tourer 2005 (54))

I was driving along at about 80mph and there was a massive bang. When I was able to stop it turned out the spolier had ripped off! Luckily there was nobody behind me or it could have been serious.

I have a couple of questions I was hoping somebody could help with...

1. Is this a common fault?
2. I've called it a spoiler but does it have an official name as I'm struggling to search for a new one?

Thanks for any advice

Re: Laguna II spoiler ripped off while driving

Hi there.

That must've been worrying, but as you say - worse if someone had been behind you.

I can't honestly say I've heard of this happening, it may have just worked itself loose over the years.

I would call it a rear spoiler / tailgate spoiler - found a few on ebay , naturally the majority are hatches, but there are ones available for estates. It might also be worthwhile performing an online parts search - you might find one in the correct colour, which would save you having to paint it.

When fitting the replacement, it may be an idea to either use threadlock or some PU adhesive such as Tiger Seal to give extra bracing/support.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
