megane rt sport 1999 tailgate snapped off

My Renault Megane RT sport (1999 1.6) tailgate has just snapped off at the hinges. When I looked closer it appears that the pins in the hinges have sheared off - leaving them within the hinges themselves. A brief look and assessment has shown that the pins/bolts are both jammed solidly within the hinges on the tailgate and the part of the hinge on the body, that can be removed, has the ends of the pins solidly attatched to that hinge part.

My question is how would i go about repairing this? I think that i would have to somehow punch the hinge pins through the holes that are on the tailgate part but they almost look welded. Can these be bought seperately? would it be easier to get an new tailgate?
also is the wiring to the tailgate easy to disconnect?
thanks for any help

Check with the Renault dealer (or scrapyard) whether you can buy a pair of hinges. The remains of the hinges in the car can be unbolted after the head lining is carefully pulled down. They will be the wrong colour so an alternative would be to buy a pair of hinge pins and then remove the hinges fit them in a vice and drive/drill the remains of the old pins out and refit the hinges with the new pins. It is going to be a bit of a pest.
