Fuel Tank Deformation

I had trouble a month or so ago getting the locking ring back on the fuel sender assembly and was told this was due to tank deformation. I was wondering if this was a permanent thing or does it go back into shape when the tank is near empty? Just wondering as I'd hate to go to fit another tank and then find the ring went on when I got it out.

Re: Fuel Tank Deformation

That is a common problem with all makes and plastic fuel tanks. Place lock ring in boiling hot water and you'll find it will fit a whole lot easier. Same applies to removal, just poor piping hot water onto the lock ring and unscrew; sometimes possible by hand.
