The cable is probably in two parts. I just bought one recently for my Megane and it was £19 for the long cable and £11 for the short cable.
On the Megane, the bonnet pull is on the passenger side (same as Peugeots!) which makes sense if your driving a left hand drive car in France but is stupid for cars here!
However, our old Laguna had the cable on the driver's side but I'm sure it was also routed along the passenger side. I remember when the clutch cable snapped a few time on that, the AA man commented on how these things are actually designed for left-hand-drive cars and not modded properly for other markets....
