Re: laguna 2 fuel tank strap rusted off

OMG not the Lag 11 with the same problem as the Lag 1

TBH I never looked at the tank straps on my old Lag 2 however I did have the same problem you have now but in my case it was with the Lag 1.

The tank was held up by two straps only, nothing other than that..

I'd suggest using a trolley jack to support the tank, and maybe replacing both tank straps. in the Lag 1 days these cost 15 ish

Hi this has just happend to my lag 2 2.2 dci ! as it turns out the long bar going from rear O/S to N/S sill ,the tank is still being held after removing the 2 13ml bolts and removing the rotten support bar and by putting the same bolts back into the same holes, Im getting told by Renault Dealers that this part only comes with a new tank !!! and I cant get a hit on the interenet either ! 2001 and beyond just dont excist ! so it looks like scapyard for a replacement! , I have plenty diesel to go hunting around the land for one as I filled my tank to the max before the cow snapped Doh!

Re: laguna 2 fuel tank strap rusted off

Guys I know with other marques of motor have used existing straps as patterns to make new straps which has so far been successful.

Be careful working under yours cars, some Renaults, like my '04 plate Espace, had suspension spring coils which broke without warning (more frequently when parked), the small spring cups weren't of sufficient diameter to give any support when the spring broke, usually at the pig tail of the spring.
In my case, the car dropped so low the jack wouldn't fit under it - there was no survival space at all.
