OIh dear, 40mph into a nice brick wall after some nobend had put oil on the corner of a road going under a bridge

Anyway,, need to price up some parts and i cant really afford to go to RenO, and thought it may be poss to do it myself instead of the insurance if cheap enough.

From what i can see, it needs the following.

OSF Wing
OSF Light incl indicator, (1 part i think)
Front Bumper
And the bit under the bumper
Painted Met Silver/Blue
Also think it has damaged a wheel sensor as i had the lights on coming back and the main wheel pressure assembly from underneath the pass side is all busted up and hanging down, AGAIN !!

Not had any joy getting prices from the net, but would anyone have any idea what this sort of repair would cost ?

The good news is, that the damage is not that bad for a 40mph collision, very safe car indeed.....

Trouble is Ray,thats what you can see....

Once you remove the outer body panels, there will be damage to components and crumple sections underneath.

It might be an idea to get it inspected by a bodyshop and get them to give you an itemised estimate. From there, you can work out what your going need and see if it's worth doing it yourself with second hand parts,or claiming on your insurance.

There is a Renault Breakers thread on the forum which might be worth a look at,or there are usually Lag 2's being broken on Ebay .Also, try - Parts Request.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

EDIT;What age is your Lag?.I suspect that if you went through the insurance,it would be close to being written of if it is a 2001 or 2002 car...

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

It's got to be easier & cheaper to go through your insurance. DIY repairs always seem like a good idea at the time, but invariably involve more cost than you originally thought and more time & more frustration.
How much is your XS? Have you got protected no claims?

As lagdti says, damage may be worse than you thought. Also if car is written off by insurers you will get something for it - it's present state its practically worthless.

First of all, thanx for your replies.

I think i'll give Tesco a call tomorrow and see what they can do, it is fully comp so it will be covered ok, but seems such little damage to be honest, but as you say,, it's the underside that counts.

Hit a wall and to be honest, i was glad i was in the lag, it really just bounced of and the damage seems to be superficial,, really please i want in the wifes Kamm but then again, thats one way to get rid of it

The car is a 2001 Dci, but it has 137k on the clock, prob worth about £2k on the streets, but book says £3k i think, but if they did right it off, no way i'd get that. on a value of £2k, would the repairs have to come to that, or would they right it off at about £1500 as un-economical ?

You know, we all say we hate these bloody cars because of the things that can and do go wrong, but if i do loose mine, i will really miss the big bus , (hope it can be repaired)

Cheers Guys
