Re: Dull red paint

Was told by a paint sprayer that the colour red (pigment) is affected by sunlight and tends to bleach it, the quality of the paint and finishing coats affect how quick this happens (usually you see roof, bonnet and boot panels mainly affected).Never seems to affect all panels at one time which I thinks strange, only option is to re-spray.

Re: Dull red paint

Thanks for all the replys guys i have tried different types of t-cut but nothing .I will try and post some pics, i am going to replace the lacquer on one of the wing mirrors and did t-cut the paint were the lacquer was missing, that came up a treat and got red paint on the rag. However when i tried it on other parts of the car i got no paint.I have been told the car has a clear coat and the paint has dulled underneath.I dont know of any way to buff up the paint underneath with out taking the lacquer offIf the whole car was the same i could live with it but looking at the bonnet i can see what it should look like and it does my head in.Plus i have some slight rust to do round the back wheel arches and they have dulledBrought some auto gylm polish good stuff but still dull

Re: Dull red paint

If the paint has faded under a clearcoat lacquer, then no amount of product will help restore the colour.

It really is down to 2 options; respray or full vinyl wrap.
