Question Espace III Windows

Rear off side window replacement in 1997 Espace. Does anyone know the correct way to insert the replacement window glass? Removal was a peice of cake just use a vacuum cleaner.
I have the door panel and winding mechanism removed and there must be a technique of how to slide in the glass to suit its shape.

Re: Espace III Windows

I have only ever seen this done once so forgive me if I ain't correct.
You need to remove the outer window seal and then slide the window downwards from the oputside - small end first - you'll need someone to catch it inside the door.
Once insdie and fitted to its runners move the glass to its fully closed position and retain in place with duct tape - this gives you time to get the regulator correctly positioned.

Re: Espace III Windows rear passenger glass fitting?

Here is the answer should anyone else have to replace a shattered rear passenger window.

1. Remove the internal door trim, disconnect the regulator from the window. Remove the regulator, ( you have to undo the door handle to get to the top bolt.)

2 Remove the external door trim. Extract the the window seal from the door frame.

3. Take the new glass fitted with the regulator bracket and lower into the door from the outside. Slot the front edge of the glass into the door upright. You should then have enough room to get the back edge of the window into the frame. You need to keep the glass as high as possible.

4. Once slotted into the door, lower the glass down to the lowest position and refit the window seal. I used PTFE lube. You can slide it into the frame around the window glass, Start with the front edge, half the top then the back edge, finally shove the top into the frame. Slide the glass up into the runners. Get a mate to hold the glass up to the top when you refit the regulator. Secure all the bolts. Refit the outer trim on the top of the door.

5 Refit the door panel having previously vacuumed out all the glass fragments.
