The pic is from a 1.2 petrol. I would expect yours to be the same.
Look for the heater pipe connections to the bulkhead and the drain is the thick rubber tube hiding behind the pipes. There will be a flap or valve at the end to stop engine bay fumes entering. Smashing, except it stops debris escaping so it needs a clean occasionally.
The scuttle panel cover has holes at the passenger side for airflow to the heater fan. The drivers side cover has no holes because the heater intake is underneath. When it rains, water will enter through the holes.
Water off the windscreen may also wash down to this area. That's normal.
If the drain in the middle is blocked, it can allow water to build up in the channel faster than it can escape.
The side drains are there for when you park at an angle otherwise the channel would fill up and water can enter the car or it can drown the wiper motor ect.
