Re: Laguna 2 Weird Knocking

Got to the bottom of the knock on my car, how to try and explain this.

Where the bush fits in place, it's not possible to get a spanner above it when the bolt is being tightened, so to get round this there is a tab which fits into the axel, so that when the bush is fit into place and the bolt tighted it does not spin round.

When the bushes were changed this tab was not quite in place but there was suficient resistance to allow the bolt to be nipped up tight, however under braking and normal load it slipped into it correct place, and this dropped gave 1/2 3/4 inch play, so when going over bumps the rear near side wheel was rattling and knocking.

The simple fix was to ensue the tab was in place and the bush tightened.

Re: Laguna 2 Weird Knocking

I have the same problem, new bushes, coils , mounts and shocks, been pulling my hair out with it. Could you advise where this tab is, is it under the back end where the bush meets the underside of the car? ive changed the bushes a couple of times and never had any problems. thanks

Re: * solved* Laguna 2 Weird Knocking

Ive just replaced my rear bushes today with help from this thread

I purchased the tool from ebay 37.99 delivered

New Lemforder Bushes from Europart at 23.94 each

just over 4 hours later and job done.

I think the tab referd to in the above post is a grove in the bracket which the bush sits on. If the bush is pushed too far back on the bracket is sits on the lip and when the suspension settles and the bush drops into the groove it will need re tightening.

The only other thing I think I could add which may be obvious would be to remember unclipping the abs wire and the headlight level sense arm.

Good luck people
