Hi,

I have a problem with my megane cc (2007).

I have not been able to close the drivers door, the catch does not stay closed over the loop on the pillar.

It was shutting if I slammed it but now almost never does.

Took it out to check it and the cable come loose from the external door handle and I just can't work out how it goes back on, its in such a tight space I can hardly see it and its all by feel.

Going to get a second hand replacement so need some advice to reattach.

Many thanks.

Thanks, yes that was my next plan, but I dare not open the door again until the new one comes or I may not secure it again.

I have read up on how to remove the outer chrome parts and that look simple, I just hope the remaining parts are also easy to remove once the outer handle is off.

Some of this information might help others in the suture.

I have added some pics to help.

I ordered a Scenic door catch as the looked identical, they are with one exception, the cable to the internal handle is shorted on a four door than on my Megane 2 CC, you would expect they would use the same part on all models to save cash but they don't.

It is however not that hard to remove the outer cover and exchange the cable section, to do this you have to pry back the metal ligs and undo the plastic clips. Once apart you have to unhook the cable from the arm internally the put back together in reverse.

It's really not hard.

Next if you do replace the door catch you will need to attach the short cable to the external door handle. to do this you have to remove the external handle (I wont explain this as there are lots of guides on here for that).

Once off you can remove the internal part in one piece just by pulling, I have some pic's of it out showing how the cables goes in.
