Re: Aerosol paint

I would get it from a dealer that way you can be sure of correct colour match, they arnt expensive either,Halfords sell spray cans but in my experience its never the right colour match.

Re: Aerosol paint

Hi there Nick,

This is your colour;

  • D47
  • 2001 - 2012
It needs a grey primer.

There are 5 different shades of this colour, so your best bet would be to take the car (or the panel) to a paint supplier (who produces aerosols), and get them to use a paint-chip to ensure the best possible match.

Hope that helps,

Re: Aerosol paint

Even the dealer paint may not match as your paint could have faded in the sun over time. Best bet is to get a paint match by a specialist who will mix a paint that matches your current bodywork rather than what the colour was new.

Re: Aerosol paint

Touch ups?
Just from my general experience, especially with metallic paint:
note(I couldnt blend an overspray to save my life)

If its small nicks like from stones or something do it with a brush and build up the paint and lacquer.
If its sides of the door/doorframe or something like that,go for it.
If its on the outer skin of the door itself, unless you can apply paint professionally like Vel or are doing the whole door,or like say the lower edge of the door below a body moulding.
It will look

Thats mho :
