Talking Re: cannot open boot

hi my son in law has just had the same issue with his micra k12 it has renault parts for the boot it is common for water ingress to short the boot wires causing it to either lock or open after heavy rain{in the micra it gets into the handle} check your boor rubber for splits around any wiring holes. you can open the boot if it is locked shut,by removing the inner tailgate plastic cover{pops off}and then look at your lock mechanism it will have a little plastic thin cover tucked up above the catch arm. with a thin screwdriver pop this off gently and you will see a white manual release catch flick this with your screwdriver ..voila!!

Re: cannot open boot

Have you tried the manual override? sticking a screwdriver in the lock from the inside - you have to clamber over the back seats, but there's a small hole. Stick in the screwdriver and wiggle left to right or vice versa and should open it.
