Twisted Slam Panel on a Scenic 2

Hi All

Firstly my wife has a Scenic 2, on a 55 plate.

She had a run in with a 'Cement Mixer', luckily at very low speed, however it was enough to cause a bit of damage !!

I have had the bonnet replaced, and a headlight, and the body shop had a few problems aligning the panels once the new bonnet was fitted.

It turns out that they now reckon the slam panel has been pushed forward into the car and slightly twisted. They quoted another 300-400 to have this replaced ?

Firstly i can pick up a slam panel of ebay for 30. Does anyone know what sort of a job this would be to replace ? And roughly how long would it take ?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Re: Twisted Slam Panel on a Scenic 2

Hi there,

I'd reckon that the slam panel will be a bit of a nightmare to replace due to the amount of dismantling & reassembly required, plus the actual welding involved.

Can't they use a puller to get the existing part straightened in situ? It can't be that far out from the correct position if nobody noticed it was out until now.

Just my own perspective on this - naturally, you have the benefit in seeing the car & the damage.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
