Grand scenic (2006)...bonnet won't stay fully closed?

Any ideas what could cause this?

I push down on the bonnet, but it doesn't latch closed there a spring catch or something that holds it firmly down?

Has the handle inside returned correctly?.It could be cable that is holding back the latch or the latch it's self that is seized.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

Assuming the cable moves freely, there is a spring against which you push down to close fully. A crescent-shaped blade (on a Lag2 anyway) then engages with the spigot on the bonnet. If it's not engaging it may be gummed up or rusty.
I freed ours with WD40 but a bit of grease afterwards would help.
