Re: Cast iron weights in Megane CC ?

I'd suspect the weights are there for structural rigidity / weight distribution, as the glass roof won't contribute much to that purpose of reducing body flex and the glass roof would otherwise be raising the centre of gravity.

If it looks like I have a foot in both camps, then I guess I do, but then parts normally have a dual-purpose.

I can assure you, the pressures on cost-cutting and emissions means that manufacturers won't add anything to a car that isn't necessary.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Re: Cast iron weights in Megane CC ?

Thanks for all the info
I realise that the manufacturers are always cost cutting, these weights with the suspension bushes must be very expensive to produce so I guess they must have some use. I've painted them gold now They'll think I 'm a smuggler if they ever strip my car in customs!!!

If you had to buy new ones you would most likely think they were too.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

If you find a fix for your problem please let us know it will help others.
