Unhappy Clio MkII bonnet catch failed - too scared to drive it now

I'm new to this forum but i'm just hoping I can get some help. At the weekend I was driving on the dual carriageway when my bonnet catch failed and smashed my windscreen, all the body work is dented etc. Got the windscreen replaced today and have been told my car is basically a write off because of the damage to the roof. Pretty upset as I've had this car for 3 years now, I learnt to drive in it and I've looked after it well.

The bloke said the car is still driveable while i look for a new car, however I'm terrified to drive it now as i'm so worried the bonnet will open again. How do I know if the bonnet is shut or could it just fail again at any time?

Thanks in advance

If the bonnet and its catches are correclty fitted and aligned and maintained there should be no problem.

Do a search of the forum for Clio bonnet catch - it should throw up many related posts.
