There will probably be two buttons - the bigger button will open the whole of the rear door, the smaller button will just open the glass.

This wasn't standard on all Scenics though, and was introduced later in the production. Not sure when this was introduced.
You will see some extra "gas struts" just inside the rear hatch window if you have an opening glass hatch. Also 2 black "grommetts" on the back window outside which is whre the sturts would be attatched to the window.

It was q faitly common problem on the earlier LAguna II models that the water used to get in and corrode/contaminate the switch. This may be similar on the Scenic.

The Lag 1 phase 2 estate I've just bought does the open window thingy,but as ST says,it wasn't standard to all models.

Like he says,look for the gas struts on the window....if there aren't any,the car isn't fitted with the option.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
