Question laguna front windscreen wipers

any advice? i bought a set from halfords yesterday for twenty quid and i cannot swap them. I can't even get the old ones off. It does say in the manual to turn the wiper horizontal to the arm but as the wiper won't lift up I can't do it.
Please help.

welcome to the forum Jennifer. I know this soundsd obvius and forgive me if it sounds stupid, but I presume you have tried to lift the wipers away from the glass. I ask as I dont have a lag, just an old Clio, so I am not sure how the wipers adjust on them.

It sounds like it to me that the wiper arm is seized a little oil on where it bends horizontal. After a little time give the wiper arm a good pull it should pull up.

To remove the blade part from the wiper arm it should be as easy as to push the blade towards the bonnet when the wiper arm is horizontal.

Watch not to damage any thing when the blade comes off.I hope this helps you all the best.

The Laguna II wiper arms to not pull away from the screen by more than a few inches. They are not designed to. Making wiper blade replacement tricky to say the least.

You should be able to pull them far enough away to remove the old wipers. They may be "stuck" so a bit of gentle persuasion should help freem the bracket.

You may want to re-use the bracket from the old wipers though, as it makes re-fitting easier.

If you do a search on here there is quite a bit about replacing wipers on the Laguna II.

Sadly I left the swapping of my Laguna's wiper blades to a 'helpful' neanderthal at Kwikfit. Before I knew what was going on he had forced the wiper arms over the catch using brute force. The offside wiper now has a rather irritating momentary pause at vertical probably because the force has knackered the wiper spindle.
