Megane III Sport Tourer Rear Bumper Upgrade

Hi All

I have just bought a 62 plate Megane Sport Tourer dci dynamique tomtom. This car did not have rear parking sensors installed and after a lot of research by Mr Renault (even though its listed on the Megane accessories web page!) they have confirmed that they can fit them. The sensors will go in the lower part of the rear bumper, and on this car its a black plastic section - not body work colour. Can I also get this section changed (so its like a gt-line bumper) and painted to match bodywork before sensors are installed? If so, how would I go about getting this done (sourcing the part) as Renault are not being much help.

Currently in dransfield's garage:

Re: Megane III Sport Tourer Rear Bumper Upgrade

Hello and wellcome,

rps aftermarket fitting by renault would probably be over 100.
Somewhere on the forums is a how to with pics on doing it yourself with an ebay type kit.

Both the renault and the ebay type ones are probably like the ones that came with my coupe from new ,ie the sensors are raised out from the bumper surface, which you dont really notice on blackor a v dark colour.

The GT line stuff is different.
a. the sensors are flush fit ,2 in the silvery undertray and 2 in the coloured bumper.

Renault UK(from previous posts are reluctant to retro fit flush type sensors .

If you are going for a gt line lower rear bumper it should fit on a non gt line car.
Where to get one.
Renault will supply the part, but it will be bare plastic and you need to check the fog light fittings are the same, and more than likely it wont come with sensors, since they have to be the correct colour..

Get one from a breakers, altho non coupe gt line cars are less common.
If real lucky you might get the correct colour with sensors included.
Even then they might not wire in correctly to your uch and you might have to wire them up using an aftermarket sensor unit powered directly from the reversing light circuit.

The only other thing that might be of interest is :
all gt line models sit 12 mm closer to the ground than regular models (same height as the coupe) cos the springs are shorter.
Regular coupe and gt line coupe are the same ride height.
I just mention this cos even if you do get a gt line sports tourer rear bumper the rear of the car will still be a little higher than an actual gt line model (comfier ride tho, probably )
