Re: Replacing tank sender locking ring

Have you still got the old one to measure and compare them both against each other, and also to count the threads and check the pitch on each? Can you screw the old one on without difficulty? Was you able to unscrew the old ring in the first place or was it levered off? Have you checked the thread on the tank isn't damaged?

Re: Replacing tank sender locking ring

You are not supposed to leave the ring off for more than 20 min ? if I remember rightly due to the tank warping if you do? maybe wrong but for some reason this sticks in my mind.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

If you find a fix for your problem please let us know it will help others.

Re: Replacing tank sender locking ring

The fuel tank can distort once the captive ring is removed - using brute force to remove it rather than the correct tool will make matters worse. Soaking the ring in hot water may help get it back into position.
