Rear Window: How To Required

After an accident, the previous Scenic had less add-ons than the one i bought now.
It has a rear window that looks like it can open, a friend said its for letting in air if a person has a dog in the car(?)
Anyway, i cannot understand how to use/open the window. There are two pneumatic struts also.

Any help appreciated please.
