Laguna bonnet

ok, gonna start by saying i know next to nothing about cars, so dont use fancy words in your answers

The battery has died on my Laguna (W reg, 1.8) and i cant open the bonnet. The same happened about 12 months ago and i got a local garage to sort it out, but this time its gonna be a pain to get it towed down there because of the flat battery.

I read some previous posts which mentioned getting under the dash and pulling the cable with some grips, but that just resulted in me nearly breaking my eye socket. No matter how hard i pulled, nothing opened.

I understand there are 2 catches that need to release, but neither of them are.

Is there an easy way for me to open the bonnet before i have to resort to professional help? Someone suggested pulling the cable while someone bounces the bonnet up and down to help release the catches.

Bonnet probs

Get someone to apply even pressure to the front of the bonnet directly on the centre. Push the cable release lever fully home then give it tug and then get the other person let go- this may work. You'll probably have to try it a few times other wise it may mean a trip to the garage. Sounds like something out of alignment. Maybe it would be a good idea to check that the bonet opens on a regular basis - say about once a week - when you check oil and water levels - I think you'l find thats what the handbook says. Good Luck
