Door Stay Strap

Dear UK owners. I'm an owner of a Megane III Hatch 1.6 110. The car has only 20K kms (that's about 12.5K miles). The driver's door (ours is the left) makes an annoying noise (like a loud "klak"). From the after-sales I've been told that it's the door stay bracket that went off so it needs to be replaced @ a 100 cost (that's quite high). Can anyone advice accordingly please?
Thank you in advance

Re: Door Stay Strap

Does that 100 include the part and the labour involved in swapping it over?

If so, that sounds a fair price.

However, if you are questioning if this part should have failed at such a low mileage, I would say no.

Unless the part has been subjected to abuse (i.e. a strong gust of wind blowing the door ajar), then parts like that should almost last the lifetime of the car.

I would contact the equivalent of Renault Customer Services for your country, and see what can be done to discount this amount as a goodwill gesture.

The car is out of warranty, but the low mileage will help justify your claim of a manufacturing defect arising.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
