What to ask of a Panelbeater for this repair?
My Laguna's body was 'vandalised' - there's no other word for it - by a so-called trained Renault mechanic during a dephaser replacement a few days ago.
He claims he doesn't know how it happened but has agreed to pay for repairs. There's something very odd about this damage as my car is dented on the LEFT front side by what looks to me like a jack inserted away from the appropriate jacking point.
During a discussion about the problem yesterday, I mentioned the two youngsters he had with him when they came to collect my car but he denies they were responsible for the damage.
Anyway, be that as it may - I am very concerned about how this repair is going to be made as I don't want holes to be cut or metal cut away for tool access as everything is enclosed at this spot as you can see.
I also know sills and under body areas are very prone to rust and the repair will have to be thoroughly rust protected afterwards.
I have made some enquiries which suggests attaching points for an hydraulic puller must be spotwelded on the damaged panels and pulled out. Would this be the correct method?
My 3 pics attached here will show you the extent and location of the dented areas.
Can someone experienced in car body repair please give me some pointers as to how such a repair should be done?
The person who caused the damage claims he knows an experienced panelbeater but I cannot possibly give my car to this bloke again to be butchered further. I also know of a panelbeater who has worked on this car previously, as well as on my R25 and his work was OK.
Some advice please, guys.
