A little help for those with frameless doors.

Hi there,

Had the first encounter with a frosty morning and after struggling to open the doors due to the windows being frozen to the seals, decided that prevention was much cheaper than cure.

So I smeared some petroleum jelly along the seals, which will limit the possibility of glass freezing onto rubber.

This may help those with CC models.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Re: A little help for those with frameless doors.

Using petroleum jelly on some rubber materials can cause it to rot or deteriorate - remember the old condom advice instructions

There is special stuff used in the aero industry - it is silicon based if I remember correctly.

I would suspect northern european regions have to deal with this problem on a regular basis. I wonder what the likes of Volvo and Mercedes, etc recommend??

I've used silicon spray to good effect before.
Spray on a rag and wipe the seal so you don't get it everywhere.

It's not just frameless doors that stick.
A thaw and refreeze can leave the top of the frame stuck to the upper seals.
The penalty for not having roof gutters I guess.

Two options in here. One for rubber and other for glass
