Laguna 1 boot lock

Ive just changed the rear lights on my 98 laguna from the red/tinted to the later red/orange
But the boot lock is diffrent, The one on the car is round but the hole on the new centre bit is oval
Can I just buy a book lock of a newer one and fit it? Im not worried about the key because of the c/locking we never use it!
Please help

I don't see why it shouldn't, however, I would imagine you would need the whole mechanism rather than just the cylinder so your local scrap yard or fleabay would be the best bet for price (possibly). Once fitted and wired, the central locking would still work as it does now.
