Scissor Jacks (unless heavy duty) and OE jacks are there for emergency only, not for maintenance.
A decent trolley is best for heavy duty lifting, bigger the better but budget etc. Try to get onto suspension bush housings, they tend to be heaviest duty places on cars.
Blocks of wood can spread the load if more uncertain places have to be used but careful they don't squish out.
And as said, safety, axle stands etc.
One thing I always do if ever a wheel comes off is stuff it half under the sill. Keeps it out of the way and a soft landing (with some space left under the motor) if the worst does happen.
