Madnoel - Thanks. If we all worried about everything that could go wrong we'd get nowhere! The guys who clean the engine don't just stick a big industrial steamer into the engine bay and hope for the best. They work with a small cleaner and loosen off the grime in a small area at a time (10cm square area maybe at a time) and wipe it down and dry it off. I know you can buy the DIY de-odourisers but for £100 they do the lot. Seats, Carpets, Treat any leather, wax your dash even. It really is a fantastic job they do.
DEEJAY - Thanks. I'll give the AutoGlym stuff a try. The problem I am having is it isn't just small deposits of tar here and there. It really is as if it's been sprayed with tar. Millions of little deposits all over the car (peeble dash effect really)
