Renault Megane 1 - Rear Door Lock Problem

My wife has a P-reg Megane(97), everything was going great until the back doors locked themselves shut whilst the kids were messing with them, i've taken the inside door panel off and all the rods are intact and moving when using the central locking but the doors will not open, cannot quite get my hand in the door cavity to unlock the lock hope someone can help me get the doors open

this has happened on a few Clios I think and the cheapest answer was to replace the lock mechanisms
