Retrofitting folding mirrors

Hi there, I was considering doing this to my LagII Dynamique.

As far as im aware i will need a new mirror switch, 2 mirrors. Is the wiring already there or will I need to fabricate a new loom up?

I believe there are two systems - multiplex and non-multiplex. The non-multiplex system should be reasonably easy to wire, though I expect the multiplex will be a non-starter.

I don't know if the existing looms will do the trick, but even if they don't, it should just be a case of correctly routing power through the switch to the mirrors.

But... (and it's a big but) I don't know if there are any differences in the mirrors themsevels between the two systems. It may be an idea to get the parts from a non-multiplex donor vehicle rather than a multiplex one.

That probably amounts to finding the mirrors from a Privilege rather than an Initiale.

I'm not sure if I'd bother with the switch to be honest. There was a nifty mod reported here at one point that folded the mirrors in and out based on the ignition live feed (also available inside the door.) As I recall, the mod did have an override switch hidden in the door pocket, so that you could have the mirrors folded out with the ignition off if you really needed to.

Re: Retrofitting folding mirrors

Anyone done this by now, retrofitting these mirrors?

I have a Laguna II ph2 Dynamique from 2005 which does not have them.

Do you know if the main connector of the wiring loom below "R153" could be connected in my car?
If that is possible, I could try to get hold to such a wiring loom from an Laguna Initiale version and get some folding mirrors and a switch ("bouton routatif"). and make it work?? :?:
Thanks for your help!! :D

Re: Retrofitting folding mirrors

hi, yes.... welcome to the forums...

ermm were not allowed to post those pics on here!!!

(it will be pulled shortly by a moderator!, copyright issues etc..)
is yours a UK or EU car?, regardless the loom will feed through via the forward edged grometed hole.

yes im many cases they built the front doors with the higher spec looms prefitted on all models.
have you stripped your out yet to see whats behind there?
you should have a round grey plug which connects to the back of the mirror.
if you dont have it then you will have to hunt down a Privilege or Initial to get the door looms and folding mirror units and switch.

it is simply a case of straight swapover.

Spare parts available for 2001 Scenic 1.9Dci, 97 Lag1, 02 Lag2.
everythings gotta go....
