Question red paint work

Hi, I am looking at getting a 2002 clio and the perfect car has come up. The only bad thing is that the red paint has faded a fair bit. Will it pollish up ok?
The owner before never seemed to clean it and only used it for work.

Re: red paint work

Hi jamierose17

If it's a solid bog standard red paint something like

T Cut, will work wonders on it after it's removed the surface crud you should polish the car on completion. Read the instructions though, iirc it can damage metallic paints, in fact any paint, if you go at it too enthusiastically especially with a power polisher.

A clay bar is meant to be a great way to rejuvenate tired paintwork.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Re: red paint work

Red paint tends to lose its lustre very quickly if not kept polished. I've a red car and I havn't polished it for years (a contant job I've not got time for) and it shows
