Thumbs up Turning My 1.2 Clio Into A Sport

I am the proud owner of a Renault Clio 1.2 Dynamique but being a young man, I want people to think I have a better car so I have decided to purchase a few add ons which could help make my Clio a bit more sporty looking.

I have been browsing through the various auction sites to find accessories that could aid me in this transaction. So far i have found ...

1. Sport badge for the rear
2. 2.0 16v Side Badges
3. Sport rear bumper with twin exahuasts

I want to go ahead with this but I have spoken to friends and family and they don't share the same enthusiasm as me.

With only one of those I spoke to being a fellow Reanult driver, I am reluctant to ignore them but I wish to seek the advice of more Renault drivers, especially Clio drivers.

All comments and tips will be kindly recieved

Hello & Welcome to the Forums ClioSport54.

I would go down the subtle route changes like the badges and such can be done cheaply and easily and can change the looks of the car quite a bit.

Many on here have done bits and pieces to their Clios, have a look in the my mottah section of the Forums.

Post a pic of your car if you can.

Be very careful adding badges to your car.

If people see a 2.0 16v badge they will find it more nickable than a 1.2! If you must fit the badge tell your insurance company that you have. Otherwise if it does get nicked they may try to wriggle out of paying up if you made the car "appear more desirable" without telling them.
Also fitting body kits, bumpers etc can bump up your premium. As you are young I would stick to subtle improvements - after all none of the mods will make the car go any better.

Things like clear side repeaters, chrome exhaust trim, alloy aerial, alloy tax discs etc are cheap to replace and can improve the look of the car, done properly and not over the top. If you fit an exhaust trim make sure it is only slightly bigger than your original exhaust - fitting a big bore trim would only look stupid.

If you want to do it,go ahead!.It's your car and your decision.

I was guilty of putting bagdes on my own cars to make them look like something else, but now I'm past it....in more ways than one.....

The spoilers and bumpers will obviously be more expensive, especially if you have to get them sprayed, and a set of 172 wheels are like rocking horse poo..

Good luck to you,and keep us up to date on developments.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
