Megane III coupe key scratch

The title speaks for this morning I saw approximately 20 cm long scratch made with car keys on passenger doors...the scratch got through the first layer of paint...Is there any other way to fix it or make it less visible that it doesn't include a paint job? ...also if I can fix it what is the best thing to use....Stickerfix,aeorosol or anything else?

Thx in advance

If i ever caught someone doing that to my car they wouldn't be walking afterwards absolute pond scum

Please, if you fix your vehicle's problem, leave a message on the thread you started and tell the whole 'world ' so that we can learn to. Many Thanks

Re: Megane III coupe key scratch

Grrr...Somebody left what I think was a cardboard box full of groceries on mine while they opened their car (my theory) and that really ticked me off.
That hadnt even gone thru the paint layer just some of the lacquer, and took me ages to get it cut n blended, carefully)
Even if you think its just gone to the primer, the centre of the groove might be right down to the metal.

By all means cover it right now with something to keep air n moisture off.
If youve ever done any painting and depending where the scratch is you may be able to use the touch up paint .

Its water based paint and there is a certain amount of getting used to using it.
If its highly visible and a metallic paint, I wouldnt be able to do my own and would have to get a pro on to it.

and yes I have dreams of the parked car energised with 20000 volts that will taser stun attempted keying car toucher types ,or something equally nasty.

Re: Megane III coupe key scratch

Hear of this very regularly, unfortunately.

Touch-up paint is still (thankfully), solvent-based, so it can be diluted with thinners.

Are the scratches deep enough for your fingernail to catch? If not, it can be compounded and polished to reduce the visual effect. If it is deep though, you will need paint.

If you need advice on effecting a repair, reply on this thread, and I will give you a step-by-step guide (including consumables needed).

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Yes....scratch is deep enough for a fingernail to catch...

About that type of people...well I don't know if there is jealousy, pure vandalism or anything else but I'm seroiusly thinking about installing a small camera into my car just in case he tries to do that again
