Unhappy Broken boot lock

My boot lock has broken on my Scenic II. Press in the button and nothing happens. I've taken off the tailgate trim, and there is a metal bar (with a bit of white plastic clipped onto it) which if pushed down releases the catch. However the metal bar isn't connected to anything, and after lots of fiddling about I just can't see how it connects to the button mechanism.

Any ideas on how I can fix this greatly appreciated!

Cheers - Nick

The metal bar goes up and down yeah? When you press the button it should move (or is it not connected to that?) It should if I remember just clip onto something.

I'll try to get a photo of what mine looks like (slightly modified though) in my car (not the same car either but should be the same mechanism)

Not totally sure when I can get the pictures though.

Unless someone else here has a good indepth answer as I havent looked at mine for months.

A 20 second use of the search button brings up all the answers you need, look here..........

Just put scenic boot lock in the search bar.

There are a couple on eBay if you've lost your button.
