A local, now ex-pheasant, has taken out my offside headlight plastic lens cover. I believe I need to replace the whole unit, it is the type with a lens, not reflector for dipped beam. Any help or advice on how to replace the unit much appreciated.
The bumper has to come off to replace the headlamp. Bumper only takes a few minutes to take off - 3 torx screws at the bottom, couple in the arches (each side), and 3 or 4 bolts under the plastic panel covering the slam panel.
Head lamp has 3 torx screws as well IIRC (and a couple of wiring plugs to unplug)
Dont forget the four clips on the top of the bumper, they were a right pain the first time before you know where to press. There's four holes to push a screwdriver through and disengage the clips. See a Haynes it shows a picture of them disengaging the clips. Ill take a pic when i get home from work.
Do you know if there are any requirements regarding re-aligning the 'new' headlight. I think I have read somewhere about setting it up but maybe it's not necessary. Look forward to your comments.
Thanks, look forward to the pics - have ordered a second hand unit which I will 'attack' this coming weekend giving myself enough time to prepare myself for 'Ordeal by Renault'
you need to push the tabs down by sticking a long screwdriver through the circled holes pointing towards the front of the bumper. They barely move so its difficult to tell when you've disengaged them but if you pull towards to the front of the car whilst pushing down the tab you'l feel it un-clip. Just be careful not to pull too hard and damage the tabs.
