Adding a reversing camera

I am having a couple of issues adding a licence plate reverse camera kit to my Renault Scenic.

First off I need to remove the rear licence plate and know that I have to drill out the existing rivets but I was wondering if anyone knows what size rivets they are so I can replace them when I fit the plate with camera.

Secondly, with Renault being Renault and having some crazy ideas about wiring colour, does anyone know what colour wire goes to the reversing rear light?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Adding a reversing camera

As we can't see what the rivets how on earth would anyone know their size (diameter or length). The number plates are fitted by a dealer and not Renault so it depends on not only who fitted the rivets but also probably what was avaialable at the time.

So what would a body-shop do? They would drill the heads of the rivets just enough to allow the plate to be removed and then measure whats left. Drill slowly and carefully and the heads should drop off. There's nothing stopping you fitting slightly larger rivets if you so wish - just remember to drill holes of the appropriate size. In fact there is nothing preventing you from using coloured plastic number plate bolts or adhesive pads.

To find the colour of wire - find the reverse lamp - check the wiring colours and then trace back from there. Renault have a habit of chopping and changing wiring colours so you are best to do your own inspection.
