stuck shut door

the rear o/s passenger door on my espace 3 has jammed shut . i thought initially it was child lock but wont open from outside . the outside lock feels like its not attached to anything , the inside one pulls but wont pull all the way to open the door , i have managed to get the door panel off but im not sure if this is a mechanical or electrical issue , all the other doors are fine

Re: stuck shut door

I have twice had this problem on the rear doors of Scenics but can't remember now what exactly was wrong, the best I can suggest is to take the panel off the other door, it will be easy (or easier!) to see how the various rods and plastic joints work, then you can try to see what's gone wrong with the stuck one. I didn't have to buy anything, it was just something which had come apart or bent, both times.
Sorry this isn't much help, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will appear!

Re: stuck shut door

I'm afraid this is a common problem on old cars. Happened on our old Scenic. There is a plaggy bit in the lock which fails, necessitating a visit to the scrappy for another lock.
It is indeed a ***** to do, without having to remove the door card with the door locked shut. Believe me, I sympathise, having suffered myself. Do a search, there is a post somewhere on here, on how to do it.
