Clio - Bonnet Release Cable

Hi I have just got a 2001 clio and the bonnet catch cable seems to be detached so I can't get the bonnet open. How do I get to the catch to release the bonnet? my guess is from under the car. Anyone know how?

You could try getting a bit of wire through the front grill and hook it over the release tag. I'm not 100% sure if this works on Clio's but it works on Mini's.

Failing that I think you'll find it has to be a bumper off job but this may be complicated by the fact that the top half of the bumper grill is attached to the slam panel in 2 places.

If you can get it up on a set of high lift ramps and remove the underbody engine cover plate you may be able to get a hand to it and open it from there.

Hi Rog - just a thought - it may be worth checking if your car falls within the Renault bonnet recall scenario
