paint problem

Hi all

has anybody else got a problem of the paint flaking off the car? on our car the main coat is flaking off due to the wind passing over it and on close inspection the key primer is very smooth. looks like I will need to get to a paint shop soon

Re: paint problem

Paint should NEVER flake off. I work in the industry and have never seen paint fail unless there was something wrong with the paint or paint application. We do in house testing on many OEM's paints. We've actually painted a plastic carrier bag and once dry it can be screwed up, abused, and its so flexible none of the paint falls off.

I would suggest your car has had a (poor) repair at some point. Have a close look in strong daylight. Get up close and look at about 60 deg and along the length. Can you spot any uneveness, mis-match of colour, orange-peel effect, dry, or 'dirt' (or any foreign body) in the paint? If so, it most likely didnt come out of the Renault paint shop like that.

Re: paint problem

It will also depend on what type of environment or abuse the paint has had in the last 10 years.
