Megane 2002 Mk1 Boot won't lock

The boot on my Megane Mk1 2002 which I recently brought shuts ok but wont lock with the central locking. Had a look at the locks but not sure if something is missing. I have attached 2 photos of the upper and lower lock as the lower lock looks as though it may not be the original lock as the bodywork has 2 holes but the lock only has 1 bolt. Can anyone let me know what could be wrong or if the lock is not original. Many thanks.

Re: Megane 2002 Mk1 Boot won't lock

I think the parts you show will be correct.

For central locking purposes, there is usually a part that gets moved behind the button to disable it..

Those parts are inside the boot/hatch lid.

Would take off any trim panel and see if anything moves when you press the key fob to lock the doors.
(Might need the boot lid closed to check that)

You can check if the motor is getting power if you can access the wires to the motor/solenoid.

Re: Megane 2002 Mk1 Boot won't lock

I had the opposite problem on our 2002 Mk1. The boot was locked and wouldn't unlock.

It turned out to be the lock actuator on the bootlid itself

If you open the boot and take off the trim panel inside, This will give you access to the locking system.

If you take off the lock, (at the back of the button two screws and 1 wiring connector) you should be able to free up the locking system and get the locks working again. There was an issue with the cog inside this small unit seizing up and stopping the boot from locking and unlocking. Just clean this up, grease it up again and pop it back together, you should have it working again

I had it working and back together in 20mins in the car park in front of my apartment.
