Renault Modus Headlamp bulb replacement nightmare

So this weekend I am hoping it keeps dry coz I'll be pulling the front of my Modus to pieces trying to get access to the Headlamp bulbs.

Any usefull hints before I start will be soooooooo appreciated.

Anyone else had to do this yet?

I cannot believe that they made it so hard to change a Bl**dy bulb for pity's sake!

Unfortunately a lot of cars are like this, not just Renaults. Rover 75, Passat, Ford C-MAX are all hard. And there are probably others I haven't come across yet.

As much as I like Renaults and will always buy them, I think this is an area that the company needs to address. Changing a light bulb should not take more than a few minutes, should not involve any tools and should be possible to do from the engine bay.

Over to you Mr Renault.

Common as has been said before..

The new Clio III must have the front bumper removed to replace the headlight bulbs.. (the owners manual actually states that!)

Agree - modern engine bays are so crowded these days a simple job like replacing the bulbs is a nightmare.

I would like to be able to design car so that the headlight/light covers could be unclipped from the outside and you could replace the bulbs from the front, then simply replacing the cover again. This would involve redesigning the bulb fittings as well to either a screw in or bayonet type fitting. Alternatively I would use clusters of leds for the headlights - leds last a lot lot longer than filament or even xenon bulbs and draw less current so would hopefully never need replacing.
