It was on mine! Mine problem was intermitent, in fact I booked it in because it wouldn't open, but then when I got it to the dealer it was working (sods law!) they still replaced the lock though and all was OK afterwards - and of course, no charge

Locking mechanism failure is a fairly common occurence. Especially on the rear doors..

Should be replaced under warranty..

This happened on my off side rear door on my 02 Laguna. Sometimes it opened but mostly it remained shut. The dealer changed the locking mechanism to fix it.

This part is totally enclosed, I asked for the old part back, thinking I could keep if for spares, but its all plastic moulded with built in electrical connectors and impossible to open without breaking in to it.

I had to pay as my car was out of warranty, the part was 85 and the bill came to 200 with the labour if I remember correctly.

After a spray of lubricant the door is now opening after 2 pulls of the handle. Still not right so I'll get it looked at as it will still be under warranty.
